CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry: This qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications.

This is a trade qualification for carpenters in residential and commercial workplaces. It includes setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing products made using timber and non-timber materials.

Licensing and Regulatory Requirements:

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

96 Weeks of Course duration consisting of:

  • 72 weeks of training and assessment spread over 6 terms of 10 weeks and 1 term of 12 weeks
  • 24 weeks of holidays

NOTES:

A minimum of 20 contact hours per week of study/tuition plus 5 hours of supervised self-paced study have been scheduled by City College Pty Ltd - to ensure students meet their student visa conditions.

The course duration may vary for students who have been granted Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) towards this course (e.g., students have completed any units in a previous course/qualification).

Course Detail

International students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The course entry interview will also assess whether students can use digital technologies
  • Have an IELTS score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
    • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
    • Successful completion of an English Placement Test (e.g., PTE, TOEFL, CAE, OET) at IELTS level 6.0.

Note: Students who do not meet the minimum English requirement for this course will need to package this course with an appropriate English Course before they can proceed with this course/qualification.

This program is delivered in the classroom, through scheduled and supervised online sessions and in a workshop.

City College provides Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) opportunities to all students. Students may apply for RPL or Credit Transfer prior to enrolment or at any time during their studies, provided that the application is submitted before the commencement of the relevant unit of competency if they find that they have an existing competency or prior learning in any of the units offered in this course.

Students will be required to complete the assessment tasks in the assessment tool for each unit. Generally, these will consist of knowledge questions and practical assessments such as projects and observations. Knowledge questions and some theory components of projects will be completed during the scheduled, structured and supervised online sessions. Practical assessments will be completed during face-to-face sessions.

Students will have access to all the necessary resources such as lecture rooms, student amenities, free wi-fi internet connection, library access, and course learning materials to enhance their learning experience and complete their assignments.

Thirty-four (34) units including twenty-seven (27) core units and seven (7) elective units are required for the award of the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry.
